2025 Fact Sheet
Thank you for your interest in Elevation’s 2025 production of The Nutcracker! We are so excited to bring this exciting holiday production back to Steamboat this coming holiday season. Please complete this application form to be considered for the upcoming production. Please read the information below carefully and be sure to submit your application AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
EACH AND EVERY DANCER MUST SUBMIT AN APPLICATION, REGARDLESS OF AGE!
APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 15th, 2025
AUDITION INFO:
- Auditions at Elevation Dance Studio are on Saturday, May 3rd – Schedule TBA
- Auditions are required ONLY for Ages 8+ (Children who are 7 years old but will be turning 8 yearsold by 9/1/2025 will need to audition)
- Ages 4-7 DO NOT need to audition. These dancers will be cast in order of application receipt sobe sure to complete your application ASAP to secure your spot. Dancers who are age 7 who areturning 8 by 9/1 may be required to audition.
- The audition fee is $30/dancer (the fee will be posted to your Elevation account 1 week beforethe audition). If you are also auditioning for Company, you only pay this fee once.
A FEW THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE APPLYING:
- Please check your email account often! Additional information sent out in the coming weeks.
- Role requirements and group tuition pricing are listed – please read them carefully!
- There will be 3-4 performances total, and YOUR performer may be required to perform in allperformances. We are still waiting on the exact show dates and location. We will communicatethat information to you as soon as the dates are set. We are at the mercy of the high schoolcalendar, and they prioritize school events before any outside school events are scheduled.Dates could be announced as late as late summer.
- There are mandatory rehearsals during after-school hours from Aug 17-28, 2025. There will alsobe rehearsals on the weekends during that time, as well. Lead roles may be contacted separatelyto schedule outside of these dates pending dancer & choreographer availability. Dancers cast inSoldiers & Mice, will not begin rehearsals weekly on Friday afternoons until September and arenot required to attend the August choreography camp or September rehearsals. - All Nutcracker performers are required to take an ADDITIONAL WEEKLY class at Elevation toenhance their on-stage performance by taking a class specific to the genre in which they arecast. Dancers must meet the corresponding class age and level requirements listed as ofSeptember 1st. Attending weekly classes and rehearsals is mandatory to be eligible forNutcracker participation.

NUTCRACKER GROUP ROUTINES
All Nutcracker performers are required to take AN ADDITIONAL WEEKLY TECHNIQUE class at Elevation since they will be only learning choreography during their rehearsals. All performers require additional training to enhance their on-stage performance by taking classes specific to that genre. Dancers must meet the corresponding class age and level requirements listed as of September 1st. Attending weekly classes and rehearsals is mandatory to be eligible for Nutcracker participation.
Nutcracker performers receive priority registration for Fall Classes. To ensure your dancer is enrolled in the correct class and receives a spot, an Elevation Staff member will register your dancer in the Fall 2025 session in the class(es) that correspond with the Nutcracker routine they are cast in. Schedules will be available by May for dancers up to age 10, and for dancers ages 11 and up schedules will be available in June. The annual Membership fee of $85 will be posted to your account on or before May 15th.
Tuition will be charged on the 15th of every month and the billing cycle is 5 months and will either go from July – November or August – December depending on when the venue is confirmed.
Exceptions:
Dancers whose rehearsals don’t start until October will have tuition charged from September through November.
The monthly Nutcracker tuition price includes:
- Choreography Camp
- Full Show Rehearsals
- Extra Rehearsals
- Costumes*
- Stage Time
- Digital Download of the Performances
*Select costumes are rented from an outside vendor or are the property of Elevation. You will be notified if those need to be returned to Elevation after the last performance.
Note: The tuition rate below DOES NOT include the additional required technique class(es).
GROUP PIECE PRICE:
$118/month per group routine
$5 off on each additional group routine/per month
*Some dancers will also be added to the Final Waltz routine at no additional charge (included in tuition)
*Some dancers will also be added to the Party Scene routine at no additional charge (included in tuition)
A valid credit card is required on file at all times.
On the application please note the following:
- When making your selection, please note the following:
- You are not guaranteed the number of group routines you request, however, the faculty does its best to meetthis number.
- If your dancer is cast in the number of routines selected, it is expected that your dancer will commit to thatnumber; therefore, please ONLY select the maximum number of routines you know that your dancer/familycan commit to. Any changes after the cast list is released affects the ENTIRE casting not just your family.
- Keep in mind that with more routines, your dancer may have quick changes (during the performance)
- Your dancer will be required to attend multiple hours of rehearsals, depending on the number of routines they
are cast in. - Adding more routines may be challenging for some dancers since the two weeks of choreography camp coincide with the first two weeks of school. Please be sure your dancer has the mental and physical capacity to participate in the number of routines that you select.
NUTCRACKER LEAD ROLES
Lead roles may be available to dancers ages 8 and up, and are cast by audition only. Dancers who are age 7 currently but will turn 8 years old by 9/1 will need to audition. Nutcracker auditions are REQUIRED for ages 8 and up on May 3rd at Elevation Dance Studio. (Exact audition schedule TBA)

Examples of lead roles may include but are not limited to: Clara, Nutcracker, Sugar Plum, Angel, Drosselmeyer, Harriet/Fritz, Grandmother/Grandfather, Rat Queen, Dew Drop, Chinese Empress, Arabian Princess, Dolls, Mother Ginger, and MORE!
If your dancer is interested in a lead role, you will be contacted before auditions with all eligibility requirements per role and pricing. Pricing is determined by choreography hours, rehearsal hours, costume costs, and more.
NUTCRACKER REHEARSAL SCHEDULE INFO
1) MANDATORY CHOREOGRAPHY CAMPS
ALL cast members MUST BE AVAILABLE for the MANDATORY DATES BELOW. The only exceptions will be for cast members who do not start rehearsal until the September. (Exact Schedule TBD)
AUGUST 17-28 (after school on weekdays and throughout the day on the weekend)
KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF SCHOOL!!!
2) Dancers cast in Soldiers & Mice will not begin rehearsals weekly on Friday afternoons until September and are not required to attend the August choreography camp or September rehearsals. EXACT TIMES TBD
3) REGULARLY SCHEDULED REHEARSALS
Weekly rehearsals will begin on Friday, September 5th, between the hours of 4pm-8pm, EXACT SCHEDULE TBD. If necessary, some lead roles may have rehearsals on Saturdays during the month of September. Additional rehearsals for select routines and roles will be added as needed.
We do not have rehearsals on the following Fridays:
- Labor Day Weekend – Friday Aug 29th
- SSHS Homecoming (date TBA)
- SSSD Day off of School – Friday Oct 17th
- Thanksgiving Week – Friday Nov. 28th
Modified rehearsal schedules may be the case for other school related activities.
-In-Studio Group Run Thru’s with the entire cast will begin in October and go through December until the show week. Exact schedule TBD.
-There may be additional rehearsals scheduled on Fridays and Saturdays as needed, with notification.
4) During the week of the shows, the majority of the cast will be at the high school every day, after school hours so please plan accordingly. It is a rigorous week for everyone.
NUTCRACKER POLICIES
ABSENCE POLICY
-Cast members must attend ALL required rehearsals including the August choreography camps on the following dates:
- Choreography Camp: AUGUST 17-28 (after school on weekdays andthroughout the day on the weekends)
Soldiers & Mice Routine for ages 4-7 yrs rehearsals begin in Soldiers.
– 2 TOTAL absences are allowed throughout the very brief rehearsal period of September – December & Shows Weekend.
– If more than 2 absences are anticipated, those need to be revealed to the director and participation in the show will be at the discretion of the choreographer and director. In most cases, MORE than 2 absences will NOT be permitted and that student will NOT be allowed to continue with rehearsals and thus the performance in the Nutcracker. No refunds will be given.
-Students should not come into the studio when sick, however, dancers who are injured and can observe are encouraged to attend. Zoom may be available upon request when possible.
– If a student is injured, they are encouraged to sit and watch the rehearsal and take notes.
– Parents are required to complete an absence notification form prior to the date of absence.
CANCELATIONS
Cancelations made after SEP 1st for any other reason other than sickness and/or injury are subject to pay the monthly tuition rate from September – November. Cancelations due to sickness/injury will require a doctors note in order to be released from this financial obligation.
